Questions and Answers

Every day someone sends a question to our e-mail asking for help with a problem regarding community associations. There aren't many places someone can go to try and get a free answer, so they cruise the on-line sites and hope someone will help. All too often, the answers given boil down to:

-- Read your documents
-- Read your state law
-- Talk to your attorney (or CPA, or other professional)

And to be honest, that's about all anybody can say. That's why we don't have a forum, or an area where people can ask questions. We don't have your documents, or both sides of an issue, so just about any advice we can give is going to be very general. I'm not going to get into the whole area of potential liability for giving a wrong answer.

I hope you can find an answer or at least some points to consider from the articles on the web site. I know it might take some looking around and some reading, but if you don't want to pay an expert to help, that's about the best that can be offered.

If you're a board member, you're running a corporation, and now and then, its all right to talk to an attorney or CPA, and actually pay them for investigating your issue and providing advice. If you're an owner, start by asking your board or manager to provide some assistance.
